Management Team

Arnold Richman, Chairman

Arnold Richman is a partner and Chairman of The Shelter Group, which includes Shelter Development, Shelter Properties, and Brightview Senior Living. Prior to joining Shelter in 1995, Mr. Richman spent 25 years as a partner of Meridian Healthcare, a privately held company that developed and managed nursing homes and related ancillary businesses. At Meridian, Mr. Richman was directly responsible for the management and operations of health care facilities, serving as Vice President of Operations, Executive Vice President and Chairman of the company. During the 1980’s, a period of significant growth for Meridian, Mr. Richman was directly responsible for development and acquisition activities.

Mr. Richman is a graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.A. degree in Psychology. He has served on the Board of Streuver Bros., Eccles & Rouse and currently is a board member of the American Senior Housing Association and Enterprise Homes, Inc. Mr. Richman has been involved in a variety of civic activities. He has served as President of the Board of Trustees of The Park School as well as Vice Chairman of the Board and Campaign Chair of The Associated-Jewish Community Federation of Baltimore.

Mr. Richman’s current civic involvement includes serving on the boards of The Institute for Christian and Jewish Studies, The Baltimore Community Foundation, The Chesapeake Bay Foundation and The Board of Visitors of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County. He serves as Vice Chairman of the National Council for Johns Hopkins Medicine and as Co-Chair of the Board of the Safe and Sound Campaign, a campaign designed to make Baltimore a city where all children grow up in a safe and healthy environment.
